Support for man who swapped cave for house

-

Man who lived in Mount Maunganui cave for two years has a home

I love the fact that he wished a family had secured this house before him. I wish him well as he seems to be a caring man and hope he gets the support needed. His cave was pretty cool though.

-Mike B

Hope you are settling into your new abode.

Just hope the “wrap-around services” actually do their job and help this fellow. More to do than providing just a roof when he has been so isolated.

-John W He was more happy being a hermit, ironically he senses the vibe of NZ, in my opinion: a hermit and permit kingdom, with authority controlling your life. Let the man, and us, be happy. Return his and our freedoms. -Mark I Good on this man. If he wants to live in a cave, let him. -Sean P

NZ Super Fund and Classic Group to deliver thousands of new homes through $300m partnership

It’s a subdivision development. The houses will be 4 to 5yrs away and then will take 4yrs plus to build them depending on demand. That’s how it works, as those who know the subdivision and construction game can tell you. -Hector O Affordable . . . how much is affordable? Any initiative to build more new homes has to be applauded, but the critical factor for home buyers is cost and being able to service a mortgage. Also, please don’t build skinny homes and pack them together like sardines and call them an excellent buy.

- Rosina H

Where are they going to get the tradies and the construction timber and the whiteware? There are already severe shortages.

-John Brian J

The search for the silver bullet continues but it will all amount to nothing as the “not in my backyard” brigade snuff out any chance of success. -Bruce C

I hope this is a genuine investment decision by the Super Fund and not a politically correct action. It’s not the job of the Fund to pour money into worthy causes unless they are profitable worthy causes. -Colin J I hope this initiative will include a significant percentage of factorybuilt prefabricated energy-efficient homes.

-Kerry H Well done all. Now comes the hard bit — busting through the bureaucrats and bureaucracy. They’ll be all putting their charges up dramatically and be careful they aren’t retrospective. The root cause of inflation will be charges and costs and it’s happening - good luck with others Super, please!
