BOATS SHOW
New boats – large and small – to feature at Auckland On Water Boat Show. Sea Blade SB20
More than 20 of New Zealand’s award-winning trailer boat manufacturers and retailers will show their latest models alongside more than 70 larger vessels moored on the western edge of Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour at September’s Auckland On Water Boat Show.
Michelle Khan, CEO Auckland On Water Boat Show, says the broad combination of boats – from dinghies and inflatables, popular alloy and composite trailer boats, through to New Zealandmade and imported launches and yachts – sets New Zealand’s largest on-water boat show apart from other shows.
“Whether you’re into sailing or cruising; whether your boating is all about recreation, fishing or competition; whether you’d rather paddle a kayak or stand-up paddleboard, or navigate your favourite bay powered by the latest, eco-friendly outboard or inboard, you’ll find plenty to see and talk about at this year’s Auckland On Water Boat Show,” says Khan.
“With tremendous support from our exhibitors this year, the show is going to be jam-packed with marine-oriented products and services, and experts to talk with, whether you’re an experienced or rookie boatie.”
Being able to step onboard the larger craft moored on the specially-built marina is a feature of the show that show visitors really like, she says. Continued development of the Sea Blade SB20 with its unusual hull form is sure to interest many visitors. The SB20 centre console boat is a joint project between New Zealand boat manufacturer Lancer Industries and Hawaii-based Navatek which developed the hull form. It is claimed to slam significantly less than conventional deep-vee hulls and will be available in hard-sided and D-tube options.
Charles Winstone, general manager of Lancer Industries, says sea trials on the SB20 have been continuing for several months. “Despite being only in its testing phase, the first Sea Blade has been sold to a notable figure in New Zealand yachting who had an opportunity at the last America’s Cup to use a military version Sea Blade and has been waiting for a recreational model since.”
Absolute Marine will be at the show with its new Maxtek hydraulic outboard steering kits. These are suitable for new builds or retrofitting to older boats. Supplied as a complete-package system rated for single-outboard engine applications from 50hp up to 350hp or twin engine installations, they are built from 100% marineproven components and materials.
Maxtek hydraulic outboard steering kits feature oversize shaft and mounting brackets to withstand the toughest commercial and recreational use. All cylinder rods are made from chrome-plated, high-grade stainless steel, and the system runs 9.5mm hydraulic hose lines with high quality fittings from the helmstation to the mounting position in front of the outboard.
Kits are supplied ready to install with all the necessary pumps, hose, fittings and hardware, plus two litres of hydraulic oil, a funnel, an oil supply tube and a hydraulic oil bleed tube.
