Yachting Developments signs order for 38.7m sportsfisher superyacht
YACHTING DEVELOPMENTS in Auckland has signed a contract to build a 37.8m/127ft sportsfisher superyacht. Hull 1015 is the second superyacht project signed by the shipyard in 12 months, following a contract to build a 33.5m sloop, Hull 1012, which began construction in September 2014. Ian Cook, managing director of Yachting Developments, says the two different projects showcase the yard’s wide skill set.
Work on Hull 1015 has begun with delivery set for 2017. Naval architecture and exterior design is by Michael Peters Yacht Design, with interior styling by New Zealand-based Below Decks Marine Interiors. Australian-based Motor Yacht Build will do project management.
Constructed from carbon and powered by twin MTU 314CHP engines, the yacht is being built for an international sportsfisherman.
In 2012 Yachting Developments launched a 27.4m sportsfisher, Satu. It recently launched the 37ft Bakewell-white Yacht Design Anarchy and the 36ft Reichel/pugh IMK-7. Other work at Yachting Developments includes several refits, and residential and commercial projects including the composite roofing for a new golf course.
Yachting Developments’ new 10,000m2 facility can service yachts of up to 60m and has water access. The yard welcomes all enquiries for new build, refit and service work, for small and large projects, and can service yachts on location.
