JOYON SMASHES SOLO RECORD

French sailor Francis Joyon has beaten his own North Atlantic solo record with a race time of five days, two hours and seven minutes, at the helm of his maxi-trimaran IDEC SPORT. The course is between Ambrose Light (New York) and the Lizard on the other side of the Atlantic. At the helm of his previous Idec in June 2013, Joyon completed the voyage after 5 days 2 hours 56 minutes and 10 seconds, shattering the record time set by Thomas Coville ( Sodebo). Joyon set sail from New York on his first solo trip aboard IDEC SPORT with the goal of beating the cruise liner Queen Mary 2. He accomplish­ed this comfortabl­y.
