Put your phone away if driving

Police would like to remind users of our roads to drive safe. Distractio­ns while driving put the driver and other road users at risk, so please turn off your cellphone when you drive. Police get a lot of messages from people that they continue to see people driving while using their cellphones.

Even when stopped at intersecti­ons the cellphone should not be used and drivers should not be tempted to “just have a quick look “If it’s important then please pull over to answer any calls of text messages. The infringeme­nt fee is $80 and has 20 demerits points. ■ Norsewood/Dannevirke/ Pongaroa:

On May 19 a vehicle was broken into on Smith Street, Dannevirke. The offender(s) have entered the vehicle thought a door that was left unlocked. Personal items were taken. On May 18 a locked vehicle was entered on Maine Street. They have forced open a car door and taken person items. On May 19 a trailer was taken from outside an address on Alma Street. This was a brazen theft and done in the early evening. Police urge anybody with any informatio­n about this to call them. On May 19 a locked commercial vehicle was enter in Reis Street and a computer and adapters were taken. This items are needed for work purposes and are of no value to anyone else. If any member of the public has any informatio­n please call the police. Between May 18th -21 firewood was taken from a shed in King Street, Dannevirke. Dannevirke Police have attended six family harm incidents over the previous week.

■ Eketahuna/Pahiatua/ Woodville:

Over night on May 16 a push bike was taken from an enclosed yard on Main street, Pahiatua.

On the night of May 21 a vehicle was broken into in Bridge Street, Eketa¯ huna.

Between May 21-22 a locked vehicle was broken into, on Bridge Street Eketa¯ huna.

A stolen credit card has been used in Pahiatua and Woodville area. The offender(s) have been captured on CCTV and police are following up strong leads. Pahiatua Police have attended two family harm incidents over the last week.
