After playing their Saturday morning netball games the rep girls and their families set out to wash cars to help raise money for their tournaments.

They were lucky to have a mild day which brought about a few water fights. It was a great fundraiser and teambuilding day!

The girls would like to thank Garry Hasler of New World Supermarket for the venue and the community and everyone’s generous donations. They made $670.

The next day the girls still had energy enough to play well in a tournament at Whanganui.

After points counted for and against, Dannevirke came out first in their pool which meant they had to play a final against Wellington West. It was a tough game but although the girls fought hard they unfortunately lost.

They still came runners-up for the second weekend in a row.

After four games and a great day they came away very proud of their achievements.

Results from Whanganui Tournament June 17: Dannevirke vs Manawatu development win 22-12. Dannevirke vs Hutt Valley draw 17-17. Dannevirke vs Rangitikei 18-3 win. In conditions made for football, Dannevirke Sports Club’s Rangers beat Red Sox from Palmerston North 2-0 at the Dannevirke A&P Showgrounds on Saturday June 9.

It began as a very even game, reflected in the 0-0 score at halftime. There were many shots at goal stopped by excellent keeping from both teams.

Dannevirke’s attacks slowly became more frequent in the second half and a right cross found Nic Sowerby’s boot to find the back of the net after 10 minutes.

While Dannevirke dominated there were sufficient breakaways from Red Sox to have the local crowd nervous until a penalty, partially blocked by the keeper, was converted by Dannevirke to take a 2-0 buffer.

That is how the game ended, Dannevirke now notching consecutive wins after a lesson in football at Levin recently.

Across in the showgrounds Oval, Dannevirke Vikings in the third division drew 1-1 with
