CRIME WATCH 10 firearms stolen from property

- By SENIOR SERGEANT JYMAHL GLASSEY

After a couple of months break from our weekly update we are now back to provide some information about policing activities in the Tararua.

There were three reported burglaries in Dannevirke in the past week. On Saturday, June 30 a commercial premises was entered and a small amount of money taken from the till. On another occasion a man has entered some flats on Swinburn St and befriended the occupant before stealing some of their property. Police advise the public to be wary of people who knock at your door. Often criminals will claim to be at an address for a legitimate purpose and the occupants are convinced by the person’s story. Despite what they may say they are there for, police advise against engaging in conversation with them or letting them into your address unless you know them personally.

One burglary involved the stealing of about 10 firearms from a commercial property in High St, Dannevirke.

Please we are very eager to speak to anyone who may have information as to who has these firearms.

During the last week there has been seven domestic violence related incidents in Dannevirke.

On Sunday, July 1 Pahiatua and Woodville police arrested and charged a male for four property-related crimes throughout the Tararua area in the week prior. The man was located by police at an address in Woodville and has now been remanded in custody

Pahiatua police attended six family violence related incidents in the past week.
