Audition call for new repertory production

-

The Pahiatua Repertory Society’s end of the year production is the hilarious adult comedy Don’t Dress For Dinner, a side splitting comedy of gastronomic proportions!

Written by Marc Camoletti and directed by Ngaire Ngatuere, the play will be on stage at the Regent Theatre, Pahiatua, from November 29 to December 8.

Don’t Dress For Dinner, requiring a cast of three women and three men (stage ages of 30 years plus), produces a highly complicated dinner of hilarious hijinks, secret trysts and slapstick comedy.

This play takes place in a stylishly converted French farmhouse. Bernard is planning to entertain his mistress while his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare dinner, and invited along his best friend Robert to provide an alibi. Misunderstandings lead to hilarious confusion and improvisation.

This boulevard comedy was a smash hit in Paris, where it played for over two years, and in London, where it ran for six years at the Apollo and Duchess theatres. It has since played in theatres all over the United States and the English speaking world and was revived in Chicago and on Broadway when it was nominated for two Tony Awards.

Auditions are being held on Sunday, August 5, 1pm at the Regent Downstairs Theatre, Pahiatua. A pre audition script reading will be held on Wednesday, August 1 in the Regent Theatre’s Green Room.
