Fiona stamping off the Greece

- By DAVE MURDOCH

When you work hard in your business you get your rewards, right?

Fiona Carson of Stampin’ Up in Dannevirke certainly believes so, now she has won a free eightday cruise of the Greek Coast in the Mediterranean, all expenses paid including free flights to get there.

She was one of five to win this cruise from 570 operators in the Stampin’ Up company worldwide. This business started in Utah 30 years ago and has expanded into Europe, Australasia and the rest of North America.

Fiona took up the business five years ago and since she has expanded into network marketing it has grown hugely with a vigorous online trade. Her regular workshops have spread from Dannevirke to Palmerston North, Feilding, Norsewood and there is interest from other towns.

Two years ago her sponsor invited her to be her guest on a cruise she had won to the Caribbean and this was repeated last year to Seattle and Alaska.

This year Fiona has won a cruise for two through the company in her own right and plans to take her son for his 21st birthday.

Winning is based on sales, one point being earned for each $1.80 worth of sales. One thousand and sixty points and you win a cruise on the Royal Caribbean Line.

Best of all, Fiona loves what she does, sharing her skills and ideas which allow people to create their own special gifts from paper and card and other materials. Her mum Joan helps with the preparation of the workshops and provides the cuppa.

Many people join Stampin’Up just to develop their own gifts. Others turn it into a business which is what Fiona has done.

While card making is the core business, other items include scrapbooking, mini albums, Home Decore, gift cards, mixed media boxes and 3D items.

Fiona has also created returnable non-plastic delivery bags with logos by Stitchme for customers to receive supplies in a swap-a-bag arrangement.

She is hugely grateful to her loyal customers and has thrown a thank you day with free cake, coffee and card-making.

Attending a workshop is still cheap being $15 per session in which you make three cards.

She has a strong following on Facebook Live when she demonstrates her skills.

She says age is no barrier with 16-year-old teenagers and 80-year-old pensioners sitting together and helping each other.

Ahead on November 10 lies prestigious event On Stage in Auckland where the awards are presented and members “are spoilt rotten” in Fiona’s words.

Then in July 2019 she will cruise on the Jewel of the Seas for eight days along the Greek Coast, returning refreshed to continue doing what she loves.

But before that she is running a Halloween Workshop at her studio in Dannevirke on October 31.
