Tena koutou katoa,

-

While the rain has arrived allowing some grass growth, we are a long way from having the necessary feed on hand for many of our farms through winter and spring.

The Rural Support Trust have been outstanding, supporting our farmers and working alongside other agencies including council, throughout the water crisis, drought and Covid-19. Many strong relationships have been forged and we are pleased to be all working together in supporting Pride in our Land events for the Tararua District being held to network, talk with others and enjoy a laugh together with comedian Ben Tito Caldwell.

Local dates are:

July 9, Makotuku, Black Dog Pub, 835 Matamau-Ormondville Road,

July 14, Eketahuna,

Eketahuna Rugby Club, Alfredton Road,

July 17, Pongaroa,

Route 52, Pongaroa Hotel.

Events are 5pm to 8pm with kids included as it will be in school holidays.

A special thanks to our farmers who generously donated feed to the Tararua Bale Drive helping our neighbours in their time of need also. This really demonstrates farmers supporting farmers and how an industry works together to help each other. A special thanks to Dave Kirk and Dannevirke Carriers for stepping up and making this happen.

Tararua has a great reputation for working together and not re-inventing the wheel and thanks to Manawatu District for leading the way and creating Pride in our Land

- a logo and slogan well worth keeping. We have much to be proud of here in Tararua with our great land and produce.

Noho ora mai All the best

Mayor Tracey Collis
