At a ceremony in Rotorua, Vaughan Bayley of Vaughan Bayley Designs, received a Commended Awarded for his Marsden Extension project, in the alterations and additions category for his work on the renovation of a home/office.
The brief called for a stylish modern entry and a new office and meeting room to be added to an existing concrete tilt slab house.
The decision was made to create a glazed atrium entry which extended over the front portico, office/home entry, guest wc and to the external BBQ area.
To keep the office and meeting rooms separate from the main home, an automated glass sliding door was installed to allow easy access. Judges commented the project provides a range of additional functions in spaces set alongside the existing house.
‘‘An impressive extension on a minimal budget,’’ they said.
