COUNCIL RESPONSE

-

The median markers have been left on the bridge on purpose and rebound after being hit with little damage to cars. More permanent barriers, like those on the Expressway are used on high speed roads to help prevent injury or death.

We appreciate some people may not like the barriers and do try to replace any broken ones quickly.

Most feedback about them has been positive. In fact, some people requested the barriers stay once work on the bridge was completed to help keep vehicles within the lanes.

The scuffing on the reflector strips, caused either by careless driving or by over-width vehicles, indicates how often they are hit.
