School’s science success

St Peter’s School has scooped major awards at the NIWA Waikato Regional Science and Technology Fair.

They scooped the largest number of prizes at the event, and won the 2016 NIWA Shield for the best overall school.

Amber Rowan-Sanders won the 2016 NIWA Work Experience Scholarshi­p $100 for Best in Fair, the LIC trophy for the Best Living World exhibit and she came first place in Year 11 - 13 Senior Sciences sponsored by Hill Laboratori­es.

Other major awards went to Chanel Morey and Madison Swap for the best Physical World exhibit, and Jack Foley for the best Planet, Earth and Beyond exhibit.

Between the St Peter’s students, they won 24 prizes.

The NIWA special award for an outstandin­g exhibit related to water or the atmosphere went to Chanel Morey and Madison Swap.

The special award for an excellent exhibit relating to our environmen­t went to Jack Foley for his Local Stream, Global Dilemma exhibit.

Tayla Stewart received a special award for an excellent exhibit with an agricultur­al scene.

And Charlisse Leger-Walker and Blake Hamilton received the New Zealand Insititute of Food Science and Techonolgy Special Award for best Year 9 - 13 food science and technology exhibit.
