Stories you will want to hear

- STAFF REPORTERS

Remember ‘Happenings’ at Hamilton Lake? Or the time Black Sabbath played Ngaurawahia in front of burning cross?

The 1960s and 1970s were two deacdes of unprecedented social, cultural and political change.

For Kiwis coming of age then, it was the time of their lives.

They experienced the arrival of the Pill, television, jet travel, rock music, mixed flatting and alternative lifestyles.

Triton Stories is a project to compile an oral history of life in Waikato during the 1960s and 1970s and give people a chance to share some of the stories from their youth.

Triton Hearing is undertaking the project because its believed there’s a lot to be gained by sharing anecdotes between peers and generations - the parties, the concerts, things that happened at work, what they did for fun on a Friday night.

Triton Stories will feature a special recording studio visiting key locations and event, for anyone with stories they’d like to contribute.

People can also share their stories on the Triton Stories website, tritonstories.co.nz or on the Triton Hearing Facebook Page. The studio tour will be at the Te Aroha Market on February 25 and The Chow & Tipple, Food, Beer, Wine Festival, Cambridge on March 4.
