Business hub sets up to help you connect

Working from home but need a meeting space? Reporter meets a trio with the answer for our series.

Working from home offers flexibility but finding a space away from the distractions to meet with clients can be difficult.

There’s now a solution thanks to the entrepreneurship of three Cambridge women.

Situated on the first floor above Lugton’s Real Estate you will find new business venture, Meraki Workspace.

Directors Susanne Lorenz, Emma Sinclair and Rachel O’Reilly were also business people looking for a professional workspace to meet with clients.

They wanted a space to work away from home and spotted a gap in the marketplace.

They discovered a disused commercial space at 38 Victoria St in Cambridge’s Central Business District.

A ‘‘retrieval mission’’, as Lorenz described it, commenced to return it into a business premise in mid-2016.

It’s now open for business and being used by a number of clients.

‘‘With an open workspace confidentiality is a key concern and all users are required to sign a code of conduct to provide all who use the premises with confidence of privacy,’’ said Lorenz.

The workspace offers a number of advantages with rooms for small meetings to a larger boardroom with audio visual technology.

Singular workspaces are hotspotted meaning travelling business people can just plug in and carry on working.

‘‘It is like a business hub where what you need is available,’’ she said.

The owners of Meraki Workspace are looking to fill the premises with a mix of permanent business operators who can use the space without the overheads associated with renting an office.

It could suit the casual business person who wants to plug in and go, and then there is the business or community groups who want to take advantage of a modern boardroom.

Lorenz said the space is ideal for those who still want to operate from home.

‘‘But at times you need space where you don’t have to worry about the laundry and other distractions associated with working from home,’’ she said.

Meraki means, the essence of yourself put into your work.
