Support for creative projects

-

Funding for creative projects set in Waipa is now open.

The Creative Communities Scheme is aimed at supporting community arts initiatives that help grow and promote creativity through access and participation, diversity and young people.

The funds are provided by Creative New Zealand for council to administer each year, with rounds open in April and September.

September’s recipients included Cambridge Society of Arts, Rosetown Choristers, Te Awamutu free concert in the park, artist Claudia Latisnere and educational weaver Brenda Kopa.

Cambridge Society of Arts Treasurer Ineke Zegwaard said the workshops wouldn’t happen without the support of the scheme.

‘‘It means we can keep the costs of workshops affordable.

‘‘I would strongly encourage other community groups to apply for the funds, you can do so much more for your members but it also is beneficial for the wider community,’’ Zegwaard said.

Funding can cover materials for arts activities, venue or equipment hire, personnel and administrative costs for short-term projects, promotion of arts activities and more.

Applications are open until April 30. For more information, visit waipadc.govt.nz.
