This week the It’s Not OK campaign launches in Cambridge. A group of people have put their names forward to become champions for the campaign. Their role will be to help people who have experienced domestic or family violence. The national version of this campaign used well-known, celebrity faces to head their efforts. But some people were reluctant to come forward to speak about their problems because they did not have a personal connection with those celebs. The same initiative being rolled out to communities around the country is taking a different approach. Champions for the campaign are people in your community. They are people you might see around town, sports or businesses. They are familiar to the community and it is hoped that connection will encourage people to come forward and ask for help or advice. Reporter Emma James speaks to one of the champions on page 3. The campaign will be launched at Cambridge High School tonight.
