Leadership award for rural school boy
A Tauwhare School student has been recognised for his tremendous leadership skills with the Sir Peter Blake Award.
Liam Wells is a Year Six student and was said to be a positive, thoughtful leader of the school.
Toni Mills of Westpac Hamilton presented him with the award at the school’s assembly.
Liam had a passion for the environment and was the leader of the Envrioschools group.
‘‘He has an amazing knowledge and depth of understanding and is always kind and thoughtful on how he shares that with others.
‘‘He enables others to flourish and share his passion,’’ Mills said.
‘‘In the classroom Liam uses his initiative to help others in the room and is intuitive as to which tasks need completing.’’
The Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards are held annually, and are the premier awards for leadership achievement in New Zealand.
The Sir Peter Blake Trust hopes to turn the spotlight on leadership in New Zealand by highlighting the contribution of these young leaders.
After his death, his family established a trust in his name to help New Zealand- ers make a positive difference for the planet through activities that encourage environmental awareness and action, and leadership development.
