More rowing events for Karapiro

-

Entries for this event close October 26.

The Karapiro Memorial Regatta would be held November 18 and 19.

The regatta would feature heats on the first day and finals on day two.

The programme would be similar to the club regatta last year, but modified to cater for the new grades that were introduced with the revised rules of racing from Rowing New Zealand. In recent times, Karapiro Rowing had lost a number of its volunteers and race officials, most recently Martin Hyde, who was a board member and umpire. It was thought to be fitting to name this event as the memorial regatta where the rowing fraternity could honour the memory of those who have worked so hard for Karapiro over the years.

Karapiro Rowing reported the Karapiro Spring Regatta, held October 8 and 9, had smaller numbers than previous years, likely caused by the school holidays and being six weeks earlier than normal. But there were 36 crews which competed. Crews from as far away as Whangarei and Whakatane competed with large numbers from Mt Albert Grammar School and the Auckland Rowing Club (Auckland Diocesan School for Girls).
