Uni too strong for Cam­bridge

First game of the sea­son had Cam­bridge trav­el­ling to Hamil­ton to play Star Uni­ver­sity, play was de­layed till 1pm as overnight rain left the out­field and pitch damp re­duc­ing the con­test to 40 overs.

Cam­bridge won the toss and bowled, early pres­sure had Star 64/2 af­ter 20 overs. With wick­ets in hand Star be­gan to be more ag­gres­sive and at­tack­ing post­ing a score of 192/5. Wick­ets were shared by bowlers Now­land, Swan­son, Khan and Tom­sett.

Cam­bridge were pos­i­tive in the start of their in­nings with open­ers Scott Ma­jor (26) and Dil­lon Kel­li­her (30) shar­ing an open­ing stand of 62.

Cam­bridge got to drinks at the half­way point at 98/2 with mood buoy­ant for the rest of the in­nings. Af­ter drinks Cam­bridge be­came un­stuck los­ing 4 wick­ets for six runs in­clud­ing Chris Swan­son (33). Most of the dam­age was done by P Gelden­huis (5-20) and S Rae (3-28). Cam­bridge never re­cov­ered from this and were bowled out for 138.
