Uni too strong for Cambridge

First game of the season had Cambridge travelling to Hamilton to play Star University, play was delayed till 1pm as overnight rain left the outfield and pitch damp reducing the contest to 40 overs.

Cambridge won the toss and bowled, early pressure had Star 64/2 after 20 overs. With wickets in hand Star began to be more aggressive and attacking posting a score of 192/5. Wickets were shared by bowlers Nowland, Swanson, Khan and Tomsett.

Cambridge were positive in the start of their innings with openers Scott Major (26) and Dillon Kelliher (30) sharing an opening stand of 62.

Cambridge got to drinks at the halfway point at 98/2 with mood buoyant for the rest of the innings. After drinks Cambridge became unstuck losing 4 wickets for six runs including Chris Swanson (33). Most of the damage was done by P Geldenhuis (5-20) and S Rae (3-28). Cambridge never recovered from this and were bowled out for 138.
