The 2018 edition of the Harness Jewels on June 2, is set to be the best yet with Cambridge Raceway. today announcing two support events in advance of the much anticipate­d race day.

TAB Trackside’s popular Harness-focused show ‘‘The Box Seat’’ will be filmed in front of a live audience at Cambridge Raceway on Wednesday, May 30.

Then on Jewels Eve, Australasi­an racing personalit­ies Michael Guerin, Adam Hamilton and Greg Hayes will host a casual event featuring one of Australia’s most high-profile and best-liked racing identities Peter Moody at Cambridge Raceway’s Pop-Up Sports Bar.

Moody, has been involved in Australian broadcasti­ng since retiring from training in 2016 is best-known as the trainer of Black Caviar, will provide social media coverage on Harness Jewels day.

‘‘I love horses and I’m really looking forward to getting to Cambridge and seeing the great horses and great participan­ts and having a bloody good time,’’ Moody said.

Cambridge Raceway chief executive Dave Branch said he was excited to have Moody on board.

‘‘Peter Moody is a legend in the racing industry who will bring a fresh perspectiv­e and an Australian flavour to Harness Jewels 2018,’’ he said.

‘‘For the first time ever there’s no meeting at Ellerslie on the same day so we are hoping to attract an audience from both codes.

‘‘No matter your industry nine group one races on one day have to be respected, it really is the best of the best.

‘‘The Box Seat is a must watch show for any harness racing enthusiast and we’re delighted to have the crew join us on course for this special edition.’’

Further additions to the day include DJs Guy and Sam from the radio station, The Edge hosting The Silks & Sulkies party zone.

Trackside’s Brendan Popplewell and Mark Stafford will host the Pop-Up Sports Bar joined throughout by local sports stars.

‘‘The entertainm­ent market is really competitiv­e but we have a product we believe in and there’s no better day than Harness Jewels to showcase it to a wider audience,’’ Branch said.

Harness Jewels is the premier championsh­ip harness racing event of the year, where the season’s best horses, drivers, trainers, breeders and owners compete for the Harness Jewels crowns in nine Group One races and is held on June 2.
