At the Herbal Health Centre in Kingsland a new test is now available to determine the health of your thyroid.
The Thyroflex test measures the speed of muscle reflexes, which are influenced by the thyroid. Developed by American doctors, the test is non-invasive and results are available immediately.
Sluggish reflexes can indicate illness, stress or nutritional deficiencies which adversely affect the thyroid – for example, a shortage of miner- als such as iodine, zinc and selenium.
New Zealand soils are low in trace minerals, and the Herbal Health Centre can provide supplements to restore the body’s mineral balance.
Thyroflex testing is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Herbal Health Centre by appointment with one of the centre’s two naturopaths.
The test is included in a standard one-hour consultation which also examines your current state of health, medical history, diet, lifestyle, and any medications you may be taking. This information is used to determine the best treatment for your condition.
