Digital TV change countdown now on

-

The analog age is coming to an end with less than five months until Auckland switches to digital television.

The switchover is scheduled for December 1 when everyone who wants to watch TV will need to have Freeview, Sky or Igloo.

Although digital television offers more channels and better pictures, there are bound to be a few questions about how to make the switch.

To answer these a Going Digital representative will be at Mt Roskill Library tomorrow from 9am till noon.

Going Digital national manager Greg Harford says it is important to spread the word about the switch.

‘‘With only a few months to go, I’m also asking people to check with their family and friends and help us get the message out about what people need to do to keep watching TV.’’

Television across New Zealand is going digital in stages with Hawke’s Bay and the West Coast having made the move in September last year and the rest of the South Island in April.

To go digital most people will need a set-top box or TV with Freeview builtin plus a UHF aerial or a satellite dish and a satellite set-top box.
