NZ first for Bruce Mason Centre: Juice Newton live
One of the world’s most talented and passionate female country music stars, Juice Newton, will perform one night only in New Zealand – at the Bruce Mason Centre on August 19.
Juice Newton likens her singing to a painting project: ‘‘It’s very visual for me – the story of the song unfolds before my eyes while I sing.’’
Now this Grammy, CMA and Billboard award-winning artist, with multiple platinum and gold albums, 10 million records sold and 15 Top 10 hits has a new set of ‘paintings’ to display.
You’ll hear distinctive versions of You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin, Still the One, Fooled Around and Fell in Love, Up Where We Belong, Without You, These Dreams, The Biggest Part of Me, Take It to the Limit, Funny How Time Slips Away and Touch Me – along with her own Grammy-nominated hits.
Juice Newton exploded into the mainstream in 1981 with Juice – an album compilation of tearful, wall-of-sound pop and country rock delivered with crystalline tone, infectious energy and authenticity.
Including in Juice were hits Angel of the Morning, Queen of Hearts and number one country smash hit The Sweetest Thing I’ve Ever Known.
Juice went platinum and international sales rocketed; The Sweetest Thing spent 18 weeks in the Top 40, and Newton earned two Grammy nominations for Best Female Vocalist. Her rendition of Angel of the Morning topped one million sales in the US.
Juice will be accompanied on this tour by Kylie Price. At 19 New Zealander Kylie captivated audiences as the opening act for The Hollies’ New Zealand Tour, before winning more hearts at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in Australia.
Dubbed ‘Kiwi Kylie’ by the fans she won Overall Entertainer of the Year 2013, CCMA Overall Winner 2013 and the Tamworth Songwriters Association award.
