Great start to rewarding careers at NZCC

-

Do you love working with children? If your answer is ‘Yes!’, then why not turn your passion into a rewarding career that will take you places?

New Zealand Career College (NZCC) is introducing its highly successful nanny course, Certificate in Early Childhood Practice, to its Auckland campus, and it is looking for enthusiastic potential students.

The level 4 course, which has been offered at NZCC’s Wellington campus for more than 20 years, commences on February 3, 2014.

Throughout the 20-week programme, you will learn how to create an enriching and fulfilling environment for a child. It is highly practical, involving one day in class and four days with a family per week for the duration of the course. Students and families are assessed, vetted and matched to ensure a cordial working environment that’s acceptable to both.

And because the family pays for the nanny services, the programme is effectively free for students. At $200 per 30 hour week it represents great value for the paying family as well.

NZCC is also offering the Certificate in Health Care Support (Level 4). The 20-week course, which starts in February 2014, suits anyone over 18 years of age, and NZCC accepts mature students too. Student comment: ‘‘My training family and support tutor helped me through the course in a very positive way.’’ Family comment: ‘‘The college has been such a fantastic experience for both of us and our girls, who have been lucky enough to have had amazing girls from NZCC looking after them.’’

As the recognised foundation pathway provider to AUT, the programme not only results in the awarding of university entrance, but is also ideal preparation for further studies in health, especially in a tertiary environment.

Susanah De Fuentes, 36, who graduates in December, says the course gives students the edge in an intensely competitive field.

‘‘I really wanted to be a dental hygienist and therapist,’’ she says. ‘‘NZCC has been an excellent platform to restart my career from.’’

‘‘We work very hard to give our students the skills they need,’’ Kitt Foreman, programme manager says.
