Not unusual to see drivers texting

-

Don McBeath, Mt Eden: ‘‘You still see people driving and texting. I see people every day. Obviously their driving skills are impaired by it. They’re either slow or they weave around. There are probably less people doing it but the ones that I find bad are the ones on motorways and you can see them texting.’’ John MacGillivray, Greenlane: ‘‘I see a lot of people on their phones while driving. There’s probably less in rush hour traffic than there used to be. So maybe the ban is working to a certain extent. But there are some people who are wired into their phones and find it very difficult to resist the urge to pick it up.’’ Carolyn Ironside, Glenfield: ‘‘I think it’s a good idea but I must see one person a day using their phone while driving. People just have a disregard of the rules.’’

?? ?? Good idea: Carolyn Ironside, mother of 3-year-old Isabelle, supports the ban but says many still break the law.
