Remuera Gardens’ book club a great success

-

Each month, a lively discussion takes place as the 17 members of the Remuera Gardens’ Book Club gather together in the library to chat about their latest or greatest read.

The book club is just one of the many activities that residents of this fantastic retirement village – situated in the heart of Remuera, are able to enjoy.

Remuera Gardens’ Book Club was set up last year after Eleanor – a former librarian, moved into Remuera Gardens and took over the running of its wonderful library.

The library provides a warm and welcoming space for residents to read, as well as relax and village manager Judi Higginson says Eleanor has made lots of positive changes.

‘‘Eleanor’s simplified the way the library is run and made it much easier for people to use. We’re also thrilled at how the book club has taken off, with the residents really embracing it.’’

‘‘I wanted the book club to encourage caring and sharing and be enjoyable for every one,’’ Eleanor says.

The huge variety of regular activities and events is just one of the reasons that residents are so proud to call Remuera Gardens their home.

In addition to the book club, there are an array of both indoor and outdoor recreational options including a theatre group, a painting group, swimming, bridge, tai chi and petanque, just to mention a few.

Regular performances from talented musicians and performers are another much loved feature.

At Remuera Gardens there is also a strong family atmosphere. Their management team and friendly hostesses like to know everyone by name, and the small and personal community will ensure you feel welcome and safe.

The residents are actively encouraged to maintain their independence. In fact, the support services available on request make it possible to live independently for longer.
