Mt Roskill ‘distraction’

I have challenged the Government to come clean on whether it intends to reopen Mt Roskill Police Station to the public.

I questioned Police Minister Ann Tolley and Police Commissioner Mike Bush at Parliament’s Law and Order Select Committee on why the station had had a ‘‘temporarily closed’’ sign on its door for more than two years. I was shocked to hear the Commissioner refer to local police stations as a ‘‘distraction’’.

The truth is the Government has been closing community police stations.

Locally they’ve closed Blockhouse Bay, Mt Albert and St Lukes. Probably the Mt Roskill station is temporarily rather than permanently closed to the public because I have kept on questioning Ministers and Police
