Auckland’s beautiful

What do you like best about Epsom?

Living at the city end of Epsom. We are close to great walks around Mt Eden, One Tree Hill and Cornwall Park. There are trees and native birds like tui and kereru.

How long have you lived here and where are you originally from?

I’ve lived here for four years. I’m originally from Tonga. I came to New Zealand as a 13-year-old to go to school.

What do you like least and how can we fix it?

Traffic congestion is the only negative. Decentralisation of the CBD area would eliminate the need for thousands to travel in and out of the city via Epsom.

Where is the do best you think

place to buy dinner in Epsom?

We have a wide range of preferred foods in our house so dining depends on the most number of votes rather than the best place.

And who do you think does the best fish ’n’ chips?

We normally go to the Epsom Fish & Chips on Manukau Rd.

Who is the Kiwi you admire most – and why?

I can’t say that I admire one person in particular. I admire the fact that we, New Zealand, stood up to countries like the United States with our antinuclear weapon stance. The number eight wire mentality plus our overall can-do attitude shared Kiwis.

If I was Auckland’s mayor I’d . . .

Bring accountability back to the council and all it’s highly paid employees.

When I’ve got a free few hours I like to . . . Spend time with family. I listen and play Tongan music on the guitar, exercise and try to complete my Master of Engineering thesis so I can move on to a PhD. The spot in Auckland I’d recommend to tourists is . . .

Auckland beaches – Piha, Muriwai, Mission Bay, Kohimarama and St Heliers. is a significant trait amongst successful
