Enjoys friendly Mt Eden

-

What do you like best about Mt Eden?

Friendliness of residents, community spirit, many great facilities, character housing, great cafes in the village, many resident artists and the central location. How long have you lived here and where are you originally from?

I have lived in Mt Eden for 20 years and before that various flats in Auckland for 10 years. Born in Wellington but proudly an Aucklander. What do you like least and how can we fix it?

Auckland’s traffic congestion. Continue to improve public transport – in my case the buses – reliability, scheduling, routes across suburbs and affordability. For me to use public transport more it has to be a viable and time-efficient alternative. Where’s the best place to buy dinner in Mt Eden?

My favourite place to eat any time of the day is Circus Circus Cafe. For a special dinner, Eight at the Langham. And who does the best fish ’n chips?

Mt Eden Fish Shop – impressed my relatives from Hong Kong. Who is the Kiwi you admire the most – and why?

My parents for their enduring and loving marriage, for their unconditional love for their children, for their teaching of values and life skills which continue to inspire me. If I was Auckland’s mayor I’d . . .

Appoint Peter Haynes as my deputy or even step aside for him.

Give the Albert-Eden Local Board better funding, as it is the worst funded in Auckland and is doing a great job for our community.

Control rates increases as ours have risen by 10 per cent per annum. Preserve heritage housing areas from inappropriate high-density development. Reinstate greater protection for native trees, including more scheduling. Continue mowing the grass berms and continue the biennial inorganic rubbish collections. When I’ve got a free few hours I like to . . .

Garden, read and hang out with my daughter.
