Aucklandheats up with Live Summer in the CBD

Auckland’s biggest backyard party is back.

The Auckland Live Summer in the Square will be held from December 1 to 23, and January 9 to February 24 at Aotea Square.

Auckland Live director Robbie Macrae says the free programme will be jampacked with entertainment, activities and events for everyone

He adds it will be a great time to be out, enjoying the relaxed summer holiday vibe Auckland has to offer.

‘‘[It] showcases the many Auckland communities and people who come together every year to share what’s on offer, whether it’s singing, dancing, playing or just kicking back,’’ Macrae says.

An eclectic lineup of musicians and DJs from both New Zealand and abroad are expected to be a part of the annual event.

Local arts companies will stage minishows and run workshops.

There will also be lunchtime, evening and weekend open-air performances.

Macrae says the Aotea precinct will be dressed up for the summer season with its December centrepiece, the two-storey high Lego Christmas Tree.

The full February programme is yet to be announced.
