City Impact presents The Christmas Spectacular
City Impact Church is taking Christmas to a whole new level this year with a brand new production called
This free event is open to everyone on Friday December 9 and Sunday December 11 at 7:30pm.
Fully scripted and choreographed in-house, the variety show features a huge cast of adults, youth and children, and is bursting with energy, colour and fun.
‘‘This is a show for everyone to enjoy,’’ the church’s senior pastor Peter Mortlock says. ‘‘No matter what generation you belong to, there will be something in the show that resonates with you and brings back nostalgic Christmas memories.’’
Set in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’ birth, the story follows the adventures of a young girl called Bella who discovers that her grandfather has been right all along about the Messiah. With shepherds, angels, and some mad-cap astronomers along for the ride, the story is complemented throughout by stunning vocal items, dance performances and short films.
With the change to a variety show this year, the event will bring together the talents of the church’s media, sound and lighting teams as well as costume and set designers, musicians, and performing artists. The result is a show with a twist and an experience not to be missed.
‘‘At City Impact Church we love engaging with our whole community,’’ senior pastor Bev Mortlock says. ‘‘And what better time to come together than at Christmas, as we remember God’s ultimate Christmas gift to us – the birth of Jesus Christ.’’
The church cafe will be open, and there will also be food stalls offering donuts, candy floss and churros after the show.
The Christmas Spectacular is being held at City Impact Church North Shore, 794 East Coast Road, Albany.
City Impact Church is also preparing for its annual Carols by Candlelight services at 6.30pm Sunday December 18 and 10pm Christmas Eve, as well as a Christmas Family Celebration at 9am on Christmas Day. These one hour services will be held at both the North Shore and Mt Wellington campuses.
