When Steve Heald started installing wooden floors 20 plus years ago out of the back of a van, he had no idea Just Hardwood Floors would morph into the business it is today.
Now staffed by 13 employees and run from their East Tamaki warehouse and showroom, Just Hardwood Floors is a fully-fledged operation which has been providing quality timber flooring to Auckland homes and businesses since 1997.

They’re easy to clean and quick to install, and, as Nicole notes, a more sustainable and stable product than solid timber flooring – using plantation-farmed timber as opposed to slow-growing rainforest woods such as kwila.
‘‘You don’t need 19mm of solid wood for them; you only need 2 to 6mm on top.’’
With such benefits, it’s no wonder she’s observed a real shift in the flooring materials they use.
‘‘When Just Hardwood Floors started, it was NZ natives, Australian hardwoods... now they’ve become harder to source and more expensive,’’ she says.
‘‘It’s shifted to American Oak solid timber floors and European Oak engineered flooring over the last few years.’’
