It is a po­lit­i­cal re­al­ity that both Na­tional and Labour know - shown in the de­ci­sion by Labour on Wednes­day to ditch long serv­ing deputy and Welling­to­nian An­nette King in favour of young, lib­eral Auck­lan­der Jacinda Ardern.

As New Zealand’s biggest city, most di­verse eth­nic melt­ing pot and thriv­ing busi­ness hub, Auck­land vot­ers have the power to de­cide the next gov­ern­ment.
