CITY RAIL LINK

It’s almost time to say goodbye to Lower Queen Street as we know it. From May until 2019, the area in front of Britomart train station will become a construction zone for the City Rail Link. Last year’s removal of buses allowed the street to be taken back by the public. Artificial grass, surface paint and artwork was installed to create the public space which was used for installations, food stalls and community events. It will now be transformed again as contractors prepare to build CRL twin tunnels. The pack down of the area begins in May.
