Foodie hot spot delivers

- JACKSON THOMAS

Auckland foodie destination Ponsonby Central has joined the home delivery revolution.

Popular eateries Bird On A Wire, Miss Istanbul, The Dairy and El Sizzling Chorizo have partnered with the country’s largest online food delivery platform Menulog.

Menulog will look after the orders for Ponsonby Central stores while delivery will be handled by drivers from New Zealand company LazyAz.

LazyAz were now doing about 5000 food deliveries every month.

The service, which launched last week, is the latest in a string of food outlets to add online ordering and delivery.

Companies like international service UberEats, local service On The Rocks, and large fastfood chains like McDonald’s are already delivering food to customer’s doors.

Bird On A Wire owner Sophie Gilmour said home delivery was an important part of its business plan and key to making the service successful was ensuring it was an easy and efficient process for customers.

Menulog NZ commercial director Paul Dodds said Ponsonby Central deliveries could be expected to arrive within 40 minutes by car.

Ponsonby Central food will be delivered to the CBD, Parnell, Ponsonby, Grey Lynn and Mt Eden with the possibility of expanding into Remuera, Ellerslie and Greenlane.
