Traffic offences, drunk drivers

Over the pastweekwe have dealt with several traffic-related offences ranging from licence breaches to serious alcoholimp­aired driving.

On August 9, a crash occurred at the intersecti­on of Peel and Northumber­land Sts, but there were no injuries to either party. The offending driver admitted that hismind was on other matters.

A37-year-old female from Dannevirke­was stopped as a result of public concern over her driving. She was breath tested and returned a reading of 1071 micrograms. This is her third offence over the last 10 years and her licence was suspended immediatel­y.

Amember of the public, who was calling the police to report a 50-year-old intoxicate­d female driver, was sworn at and pelted with stones by the offender. Police arrived and received similar treatment. She was processed for drink driving and chargedwit­h other behaviour offences.

The same female was arrested earlier when she came to the police station to claim her handbag which she had left at a local supermarke­t. She was charged with possession of an offensive weapon— a large knife — and possession of instrument­s for consumingm­ethampheta­mine which police found in her handbag.

During the early hours of August 13, 10 four-day-old calves were stolen from a farm address on Pagets Rd, Ashley Clinton. About 2am a vehicle was heard driving on the farm track near the victim’s house, but was not seen. The loss was discovered the following morning.

These people have warrants for their arrest for failing to appear in the Waipukurau District court on August 13: Natasha Lee Edwards; Leonard Tehau Kaka; Churae Summer Soloman; Wayne Randall Tua; Sarah Louise Matheson. These people are advised to get these matters sorted out as soon as possible.
