Daffodils on sale

-

The Cancer Society’s annual flagship event, Daffodil Day one of its most important fundraising and cancer awareness events - is this Friday, August 31. Now in its 27th year, Daffodil Day raises awareness of cancer and is the biggest generator of funds for the Cancer Society.

The daffodil, with its bright yellow bloom, represents hope for the one in three New Zealanders affected by cancer each year. To raise funds, the Cancer Society HB is operating a pop-up store between 10am to 4pm from Wednesday, August 29 until Daffodil Day on Friday, August 31 inside the old Envy Shoes shop along Ruataniwha St in Waipukurau.

Local coordinator Sally Petro said there would be raffle tickets and various “bits-and-bobs” for sale, including Daffodil Day t-shirts, tea towels and carrier bags.

On Daffodil Day, there would also be a cake stall from 8am outside the pop-up shop. Members of the CHB Vintage Car Club will also be visiting in their vehicles and, weather permitting, there would also be a miniature pony on hand to entertain the kids, she said. Businesses are also invited to take part in the “Paint the Town Yellow” promotion.

To enter call 06 858 9534 or enquiries.hb@cancercd.org.nz. People wanting to donate and support those affected by cancer can do so at any ANZ branch, online at daffodilday.org.nz, or by visiting the pop-up shop this Wednesday to Friday
