GROUND BASED LINE ASSET INSPECTIONS:

-

Centralines must inspect all of its overhead assets at least once every five years. At present Centralines has a little over 20,000 poles to check, approx. 4,000 poles a year! This is growing all the time - which is one of the reasons why we use a helicopter to cover some of the larger cross - country sections of line.

These inspections assist Centralines to keep the power on and ensure the power lines are Safe!, by helping to identify and fix possible faults before they happen.

In June through to mid - July The Centralines inspector checked all the overhead poles and lines in the Waipawa township.

Through July - August & September the inspector will be inspecting all the poles and lines in the Waipukurau township.

The public will see our Centralines asset inspector walking and driving the streets of Waipukurau. This inspection includes the condition assessment and photos of all poles - Concrete and Wooden, cross arms, wires/cables, switch’s Transformers and Earths. He will also be assessing Vegetation proximities and the ground condition between poles along the road/street and cross - country. This also includes measuring the heights of powerlines that cross over all roads, streets and tracks.

The inspector will do a courtesy check on consumer owned lines going to their connection point and advise the Consumer should work be required to their line.

In the spring/summer months the inspector will be out in the country areas, the inspector will notify the property owners before coming onto their property, this is usually done by a notice dropped in their letter box or door.
