Prepare to get muddy. The annual Flemington School mudrun is back this weekend. The eighthMudR­unwill take place at Lake Station, Lake Rd, Waipukurau on Sunday. The day will consist of three courses— a 2.5km, 5km, and 10kmrun— featuring 25muddy obstacles.

Flemington School Parents and Friends group chairwoman Jo Brady said there will besomesurp­rises on the course this year.

“Each yearwetry tocomeupwi­th newobstacl­es for the course, though there are always the firm favourites too, like the infamous Tunnel of Terror, and our iconicmuds­lide. For the 2020MudRun­we’ll also be having a fewsurpris­es,” she said.

In 2019 theMudRunh­admore than 550 participan­ts.

Brady said the event had grown massively over the eight years.

“TheMudRuni­s our main annual fundraiser for Flemington School, and each year it has grown bigger, better and muddier.”

The courses can be run individual­ly or as a team.

Plenty of food and coffee will be available alongside spot prizes for the best costumes. Weather-permitting, there’ll also be Flemington School’s famous lolly scramble, with a fly-over from the pink plane at Rural Air Work.

Brady said there’ll even besome horse action to watch in the afternoon.

“After the race the Wanstead Polo Club will be kicking off theirnew season, so people can stay, grab a bite to eat and watchsomec­hukkas.”

Showers will be available formudcove­red participan­ts— a towel and clean clothes will be needed. Registrati­on opens at 8.45am, a prerace briefing will be at 9.45am, followed by a 10amstart. Under 7s must be accompanie­d by an adult at all times.
