Centralines’ depot begins

-

Central Hawke’s Bay consumer-owned electricity distributor Centralines Limited has named Gemco to build its modern, fit-for-purpose depot at 17 Coughlan Rd, Waipukurau.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the 2600sq m depot was held last week and included a blessing of the site by Centralines Vegetation control team leader John Te Amo.

Centralines chairman Ian Walker said the new depot will provide the space needed to accommodate Centralines’ existing workforce, while providing workplace flexibility to support the company’s growth strategy.

“With Centralines continuing to support Central Hawke’s Bay’s significant growth, we have outgrown our current site. Changes in traffic volume to the current Peel Street site have also reduced access to a single/entry point, which has hindered our vehicle movements.

“As a consumer-owned business it is pleasing that the new premises will enable us to help deliver further growth for the company and economic benefits for Central Hawke’s Bay, including the provision of employment opportunities through its build.

“In addition to accommodating the needs of our people, the premises will include multipurpose facilities which will be available for community meetings and events. Our people, customers and the community are at the centre of everything we do, and we look forward to the space our new depot will provide to grow and develop our diverse workforce.”

The new premises is expected to be completed by late 2021.
