TREES FOR TYRES PROMOTION
Purchase a Kumho Ecowing tyre and we will plant a tree – it’s that simple.
Kumho Tyres ground breaking initiative of planting a New Zealand native plant for every eco tyre sold, in conjunction with Kumho Tyre Retailers, is proving successful for the environment and the customer.
For every Kumho Ecowing tyre purchased an eco sourced native tree will be planted by the Talbot Forest Working Group/ Timaru District Council.
This will enable wildlife corridors to be established adjacent to the Talbot Forest Scenic Reserve in Geraldine, South Canterbury.
Over the last few months more than 750 plants have been purchased and already it is possible to see the addition of trees that this Kumho initiative has created.
Ines Stager and Gary Foster (on behalf of Talbot Forest Working Group and Timaru District Council) had this to say regarding the scheme;
“The planting of native trees, as a result of the Kumho Tyres promotion, is improving biodiversity and amenity on the Geraldine Downs.
“The planting undertaken to date, and those planned for the future in the Barker Street vicinity will not only contribute to providing an enhanced backdrop for Geraldine township, but will also provide valuable wildlife corridor linkages from Talbot Forest to other areas on the Geraldine Downs.
“These corridors will assist the movement of birds, bats, insects and lizards, which are all critical to ensuring the ongoing wellbeing of both Talbot Forest and other natural areas on the Downs.
“Talbot Forest Working Group and the Timaru District Council are grateful for the opportunity to work with Kumho Tyres on this project.”
Later in 2014 a Manager from Kumho Tyres Korea is coming to New Zealand and has requested a visit to the planting site to see the work done so far.
As people become aware of the savings that can be made by running Kumho Ecowing tyres, plus the knowledge that a tree has been planted for each tyre purchased, sales are predicted to increase rapidly.
The Kumho Ecowing tyre is an environmentally friendly tyre – the design brief was to produce a tyre with low rolling resistance to save fuel and reduce emissions during manufacturing and usage.
Not only does the Ecowing tyre save the environment with less emissions they offer exceptional performance, saving up to 5% fuel usage compared to non eco tyres.
