fam­ily-style restau­rant was our favourite lunch stop in the Lanes be­hind High Street in Christchurch be­fore the earthquakes flat­tened the area.

Now Mitchelli’s is up and run­ning again at the up-styled Tan­nery in Wool­ston. And just as good. Ewan Mitchell is the man be­hind the project and daugh­ters Penny and Ge­orgina pro­vide splen­did ser­vice once again.

My favourite on the busy menu? Nested Eggs. An egg nested amongst a potato, spring onion and smoky ham hash, baked and sprin­kled with chilli flakes. $14.50. Bril­liant. Well worth the drive across town.
