MARTIN BOSLEY (YELLOW BRICK ROAD) I kid you not, but the best pie in all the land is the beef bourguignon from Café Mirabelle in Carterton. It’s got a quartered onion in the centre of it, so there is a mound in the pastry top. It's run by a French couple – he’s out front and she’s in the kitchen and a real talent. Her garbure (traditional French stew) will send you into a food coma. Buy a pie and he hand writes the reheating instructions in French on the paper bag. 31 High Street North, Carterton
