Conveyor solutions cut downtime – increase uptime

-

SKF provides cost-effective solutions for virtually all of the rotating components in today’s conveyor systems.

Designed for the rigorous demands of industry, each SKF solution provides specific benefits that result in less unplanned downtime, fewer repairs, and longer service intervals.

The SKF solutions are drop-in replacements for your existing systems to upgrade your levels of productivity, and ultimately help increase your operation’s profitability.

Mounted products – concentra bearings

Concentra ball and roller units are part of SKF’s extensive line of ready-to-install mounted products featuring a unique 360˚ grip connector that applies the right shaft force and internal clearance every time.

This locking technology provides longer service life by reducing vibration, and fretting corrosion.

The bearings used in Concentra ball bearing units are based on SKF Y-bearings in YSP 2 SB series. These bearings have a convex sphered outside surface and is sealed on both sides with a highly effective standard seal, which enhances the sealing effect without increasing friction, and filled with a premium grease.

If necessary, the bearing unit can be relubricated via a grease fitting in the housing, although in many cases the bearings may be able to operate as “sealed for life” and therefore maintenance free.

Food line series

To meet the requirements of the food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing industries, SKF has developed a special range of Y-bearing units made from a thermoplastic material capable of resisting citric acids, cooking fats and most food and beverage processing chemicals.

The SKF Food Line Y-bearing units provide significantly improved service life over conventional cast iron bearing units under corrosive and wash-down conditions and are pre-lubricated for life with a non-toxic food grade grease, capable of offering relubrication free operation.

Bearings – explorer spherical roller bearings

In response to the everdemanding performance requirements of modern machinery, SKF has upgraded the Explorer performance class of self-aligning rolling bearings to provide significant improvements to service life under both poor lubrication and contaminated environments.

By extending bearing life to an average of twice the life of previous Explorer class bearings under common operational conditions, signifies a large step forward in reliability and reduced plant maintenance requirements.

Sealed spherical roller bearings

Sealed Explorer spherical roller bearings made are sealed with high-performance contact seals and prelubricated with a high-quality bearing grease. The seals protect the bearing and lubricant from contaminants that might otherwise cause premature bearing failure.

Normally the only way to fight the ingress of contaminants is by pumping large quantities of grease through the bearing with the goal of forcing contaminants out. However, with sealed Explorer spherical roller bearings, contaminants are effectively prevented from entering the bearing.

This also allows the bearings under certain conditions to be considered lubricated for the life of the bearing. By eliminating or extending relubrication intervals, the cost to purchase and dispose of lubricant can be reduced.

Reducing maintenance requirements costs can substantially reduce the total cost of ownership of an application.

Lubrication systems – single point systems

Automatic lubricators can provide reliable and cost effective solutions for 24/7 lubrication, eliminating the “need to touch” and is ideal for hard to reach or hazardous locations.

SKF offers a range of single point lubricators depending on the application demands and come in a range of high performance grease options to suit the application.
