Regular boiler tuning according to EECA best practice boiler tuning procedure saves up to 25 per cent of your energy bill.

Operation of steam and hot water boilers is a major contributor to the operating costs of manufacturers, producers, businesses or hospitals.

Boiler consumes in fuel on average four times its initial cost per year. To cut on fuel consumption, boilers need to be tuned every six months. Tuning ensures equipment operates at maximum efficiency by adjusting the fuel to air ratio of the burner / boiler. A dollar spent on tuning results in $ 30 of savings. Apart from improving efficiency, tuning reduces emissions and ensures safety of equipment.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority of New Zealand (EECA) offers business grants which can fund up to $ 5000 a year, or 40 per cent of the costs of a boiler tune-up, for boilers with capacity over 1500 kW.

Boiler tuning includes preliminaries, maintenance and gas analyser tuning and costs $1700 to $7000 depending on the size of the boiler. EECA developed Best practice boiler tuning procedure unifying the standard for boiler tuning and approved service providers servicing customers in New Zealand.
