Two new Ultra HD notebooks from Toshiba

T The Satellite Radius 12 is a 5-in1 notebook designed to exceed powerpow and performanc­e demands throughthr­ou ground-breaking technology anda ultra-mobility. Toshiba says the unit is the world’s first 12.5 inchi convertibl­e notebook with a 4K Ultra HDH display. The Satellite Radius 12 featuresfe­atu premium screen and sound quality,quality a sleek lightweigh­t design and 6th Gen IntelIn Core processors that deliver maximummax­im mobile performanc­e and excellent battery l life, promises the company. Capabiliti­es includeinc­lud an ‘exceptiona­l’ level of picture quality with four times the pixels of Full HD. The display has earned Technicolo­r Colour Certificat­ion, which means the colours are accurate. Also available with a Full HD display option (1920 x 1080), both models feature a high brightness 350 NIT screen for usage in outdoor scenarios and IPS technology for wide angled viewing. Both displays also utilises Corning Gorilla Glass NBT reinforcem­ent. The widegamut RGB display supports 100% Adobe RGB colour space reproducti­on making it, says Toshiba, an ideal choice for mobile content creators. Other features include built-in harman kardon speakers tuned by DTS Studio SoundTM, Bluetooth Link, latest Intel Core Dual-Core processor, high-functionin­g video streaming, increased graphics performanc­e, Solid State Drive (SSD) of up to 512GB SSD and 8GB RAM, one new high speed USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port with up to 10Gbps throughput, Intel Dual Band WirelessAC for ultra-fast communicat­ion capability.

The Satellite Radius 12 weighs 1.32kg, has a 15.4mm profile and a 360-degree precision hinge. The device’s highperfor­mance display is reinforced with all-new Gorilla Glass NBT, which offers 8x-10x higher scratch resistance than soda lime glass displays, plus high levels of damage resistance so it is better able to withstand the shock of accidental bumps as it’s carried from place to place.

Featuring the latest in Windows 10 functional­ity, the Satellite Radius 12 is one of the first small-screen PC’s to enable facial authentica­tion with Windows Hello. Powered by an on-board infrared camera, Windows Hello uses biometric authentica­tion to enable consumers to log in to the notebook instantane­ously using only their face. The Satellite Click 10 is a detachable 2-in-1 notebook that enables consumers to experience the best of notebook and tablet functional­ity in just one click, promises Toshiba. The unit transforms from a powerful laptop with a full-sized keyboard, to an intuitive tablet, making it the ideal companion for those looking for a secondary device to stay productive and entertaine­d on the road.

Features include a 10.1” Wideview Full High Definition TruBrite touch display, offering a ‘better than’ Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 for ‘vibrant clarity and stunning definition’. Wide-angle technology has been integrated into the display to enhance colour reproducti­on and allow a viewing angle of 178°. High brightness levels means the Satellite Click 10 is also suitable for using in outdoor conditions. Battery life is up to 15 hours driven by an intelligen­t charging system, meaning the device will always charge the tablet battery first – and drain last – in order to maximise its use when undocked. The Satellite Click 10 is 30 percent smaller and 50 percent lighter than a traditiona­l laptop at 1.1kg as a notebook and 552g as a tablet.

The latest Intel Atom processor and up to 4GB RAM is built in for on-the-go performanc­e with responsive browsing and efficient multi-tasking. Storage for music, photos, work and more is delivered through the device’s 64GB eMMC memory, which can be extended further via the tablet’s microSD card slot, which supports up to 128GB capacity cards. The Satellite Click 10 is loaded with Microsoft Office Mobile applicatio­ns, Windows 10 and has a quick access key to the voice-activated Cortana2 digital assistant.

Users can move seamlessly between notebook and tablet mode with Windows 10’s new Continuum feature – a technology that automatica­lly adjusts and optimises content and apps regardless of how the device is being used.

The Satellite Click 10 has dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and supports wireless display for movies, photos, presentati­ons and more to be sent wire les sly from the device to a compatible TV. V.
