Milbank Industrial Electric Co. – the name has changed, but we haven’t
The Milbank name has been the driving force behind Gouk & Sullivan for the past forty years, and now Gouk & Sullivan BOP Ltd. is wholly owned by the Milbank family it is only right that it should be the name above the door.
So make a note that the former Gouk & Sullivan BOP Ltd. is now very proudly Milbank Industrial Electric Co. Ltd. The family-owned and operated company is based in Kawerau, Bay of Plenty and specialises in the repair and servicing of electric motors, submersible pumps and generators, and associated control equipment.
Gouk & Sullivan was established in Auckland in the early 1930’s by Eric Gouk & Basil Sullivan to service the burgeoning Port of Auckland. Paul Milbank joined Gouk & Sullivan in 1963 as a Motor Rewinder and became a Director and shareholder in 1971.
In the late 1990’s the Tasman Pulp & Paper Mill identified the need for a specialist motor repair service to help improve their machine reliability. Paul Milbank put forward a proposal, which was accepted and Gouk & Sullivan BOP Ltd. was established in Kawerau in 1999.
Milbank Industrial Electric Co. repair and service all sizes of electromechanical rotating equipment and controls. The large modern workshop facility, with in-house lifting capacity of 40 tonne, enables the servicing of all types of motors, pumps and generators in our workshop. It also offers a full on-site repair service, including motor rewinding, overhauling and balancing, together with a preventative maintenance inspection facility. The company endeavours to provide solutions to all your electric motor problems.
AC electric motor & generator rewinding forms the core of the business, however it also has extensive experience with the repair and overhaul of DC motors. Services include the rewind of armatures and field windings, the repair and rebuilding of commutators, bearing replacement, mechanical repairs and full machine testing.
Milbank Industrial Electric Co. can supply high and medium voltage stator coils, DC armature and field coils. It can also refurbish existing motor and generator rotor pole coils, with a coil press that can handle coils up to 1m wide by 2m long, with a pressing capacity of 80 tonnes.
The company has the ability to run and test all motors, AC and DC up to 2500kw under normal running speeds. Test and diagnosis equipment includes AC and DC motor test boards, variable speed drive for testing large AC motors, surge tester for diagnosing winding faults, RSO testing of
