ifm electronic has developed and launched a market leading new range of K1 sensors (detects all metals at the same distance as Mild Steel!). These sensors are Ideal for use with stainless steel, Al, Cu, and other non Mild Steel targets in factory automation applications. Compact dimensions allow use in tight spaces. And electromagnetic field immune versions, prevent incorrect switching near robotic welding applications and electric brakes. Consistent correction factor K1 sensors were originally designed to detect aluminium and other low ferrous target materials, especially where conventional inductive sensors experience unacceptably reduced sensing range were not the best sensor option. However, Stainless Steel construction makes these sensors ideal for use in traditional food and beverage plant applications, where stainless steel targets remain an issue for plant operators. Fast changing switching states are precisely monitored by very high switching frequencies.

The new K1 sensors, are powerful and in some versions remain immune to magnetic fields near robotic welding applications. Featuring a wide temperature range of -40…85°C, these universal sensors come with the highest protection rating available = IP68 / 69K, perfect for use in wash-down areas.
