Dried Fig and Marsala Compote

I love having this easy compote in the fridge. I serve it with other cheeses, cold meats and it also goes well with beef and lamb.

200 grams dried figs, stem end trimmed off

¾ cup marsala or port ½ cup water

1 tablespoon honey 2 sprigs thyme zest ½ an orange

Roughly chop the figs and place in a small saucepan along with all the remaining ingredient­s. Bring to the boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes until tender and most of the liquid has cooked off. Cool. Makes about 1½ cups
